Arsenal manager has a ball with Greenhouse at TreeHouse

Thursday 17 December 2009

This month, the opening of Greenhouse school TreeHouse’s National Centre for Autism Education in Muswell Hill, London, saw Arsène Wenger as assistant to Greenhouse Multisports coach Geza during a football exhibition.

Arsène, who seemed to enjoy having someone else in charge for a while, was the perfect assistant in an exhibition which showed how Greenhouse uses football to teach young people with autism valuable life skills like teamwork and communication.

The key to unlocking the potential of these children is the right education, but the vast majority of these children aren’t getting the education and support that meets their needs. Greenhouse coach Geza provides multisports activities for young people at TreeHouse right throughout the school week – as well as weekends and school holidays – helping them develop a multitude of physical and social skills.

Ed Balls, Secretary of State for the Department of Children, Schools and Families, who was also in attendance said: ‘Improving provision for children with autism is an important priority'.
