Coaches from; Harris Academy, South Norwood, Stockwell Park High School, Bacon’s College, Norwood School, Knights and Pimlico Academies (who are all currently part of the Greenhouse programmes) escorted a number of young basketball stars abroad to embark on an intensive training programme.  They met players from other countries at the camp which was held in a small town called Trebenje in Bosnia & Herzegovina, where the institution was established more than 10 years ago. Here the players mixed, shared knowledge about their various skills and experiences in the game and learnt about each others’ cultures.

Dean from Harris Academy explains: “The camp has been one of the greatest basketball experiences I have ever witnessed and took part in. The people are friendly, the coaches are very co-operative, the food is amazing and the training is intense, you will get a lot out of it...”

Across the three week camp, around 60 Greenhouse participants took part. It was a unique opportunity for the young people to develop their physical and mental attitudes as well as meet new friends and add to their travel experiences.

“The camp exceeded my expectations by far, it gave everything it promised. The coaches were brilliant and helpful with their first priority being to help you develop and mature into a better basketball player. It also helped me to develop social skills which in turn led to us making new friends.  My first time but certainly not my last...” says Darington from Bacon’s College.

A special thanks to the camp facilitators  Professor Dr. Milivoje Karalejic, Dragan, and all the international coaches as well as the Greenhouse Coaches who helped to make the event a success and a memorable experience for all involved.

"One of the best moments during the camp is the evening competitions which include two point and three point shooting competitions and five on five games. When the crowd is watching, it makes you feel like you’re a top NBA player.” Diniro from Norwood School.
