Greenhouse Youth Theatre

Greenhouse Youth Theatre was born nearly a year ago – the realisation of a dream for drama teachers Lucy and Melanie.

The duo, who worked together for many years, had always wanted to set up a community theatre group. The dream became a reality with some help from Greenhouse and began with the young people who came along to a summer project.

Its home is White City, West London, a place Lucy Foxell says has previously been "starved of the arts". They soon realised that local children really wanted the talent and experience the drama teachers had to offer. The founder members are a committed bunch of young people who have grasped the great opportunity before them.

Lucy says:

'We are offering something creative – a way to step outside their daily experience. There is the chance to go on trips and be involved in other areas. It is about enriching their education and understanding of the arts...gaining skills in theatre, communication and literacy. Young people need to show discipline and commitment but we hope it will give them confidence and be fun!'
