A jam packed Easter at TTK Ferndale

Monday 12 April 2010

Over the course of the Easter break 28 players took the opportunity to perfect their skills through the Greenhouse programme at Ferndale.

National Training
The 1st week of the holidays saw four players from Ferndale Community School selected by National Coach Ryan Jenkins for Welsh Training in Cardiff. Well Done to Keiran Tann, Ethan Lewis, Chris Griffiths and Liam Winder for being part of the Welsh set up.

Cippenham 1 star
On Sunday 4th April the players chose to give up their bank holiday weekend to play in the Cippenham 1 Star competition. Four boys travelled to the under 18s event, Chris Griffiths was the star performer reaching the quarter final stage with Steven Fawkes following closely behind. Sam Griffiths and Ethan Lewis enjoyed the day and gained experience from competing against an older opposition.

Elite Training
In the 2nd week, elite training was held at Ferndale with players invited from Tonyrefail, Tonypandy, Ponty High and Swansea Church of England schools. Welsh Internationals Matt Lancey, Nicole Hall, Conor Edwards and Alex Francis took the opportunity to get extra practice in ahead of the Cheltenham 4 Star and British Primary Schools. It was great to see players from the different areas of Wales come together.

Arson Awareness Day
A special Arson Awareness Day was held on the 8th April at Nantymoel Boys and Girls Club by Dave Treharne. Players were provided with four hours of training! During the break Neil O'Connell had a chat with the players and they watched a video on the dangers of fire. Ferndale's Charlotte Slye, Chris Griffiths, Steven Fawkes and Dylan Bruford were all in attendance.

Well Done to Steven Fawkes and Sam Griffiths for gaining 100% attendance!
