From gang life to university through Greenhouse

Sunday 23 August 2009

Sullivan’s life has made a 180º turn since he started table tennis with Greenhouse.

At just 15, Sullivan was lured into a local drug-dealing gang. Often suspended from school for fighting, the crunch came when he had to make the choice between the bad-boy image and table tennis.

Sullivan says:

'I just joined the table tennis club after school. It was the first time I'd ever felt the rush of being good at something. Coach Jason really inspired me – and would only let me go on playing if my behaviour improved at school.'

Sullivan is now himself an inspiration – a school prefect with excellent reports at school, on his way to study physiotherapy at university!
